First Kayak trip of Summer 2014

Yakima River August 2014

We took our first camping trip this Summer

and went Kayaking on the Yakima River

It was quite an adventure

in the first two minutes on the water one of our friends

got tangled in some brush by the shore and the water was

moving very fast, she got caught under her kayak for 

a minute and then finally was able to get lose and the rest

of the group worked together until she was finally safe

back in her kayak. Very scary, but we all got back on the river

after a short stop to recover and went the rest of the way safely

The second night we went in to Ellensburg, WA. for dinner only to 

be stopped by Fire and Police letting us know there was a 

fire on the hillside of the Canyon we were in and they could

not let us go back to our campsite. We had two trucks and two

trailers back at camp!!! 

They told us to go to dinner and see what happened after that. 

They still would not let us back into the Canyon on

that road but one of the men said we could go in to Yakima

about 1/2 hour away and go through the Canyon 

the other way !

Wow finally made it back to camp and they opened the road

the next day and out we went.

Eventful Trip !!!


We watched some kids in the campsite scurry
up this Mountain the first night we were there, they flew a kite
and set off some fire works
not so wise since the next night a fire came down this canyon

We got a different truck this year and had to buy a lighter
camper. This was first time out and we think we will like it just fine !

We had a great weekend

Tristin and Ryan and their two baby boys were there, and Chelsi came up after

going to girls camp.

Spring 2014

New Front Porch !!

well Gary had this great idea to change our

entrance to our house

So we have been busy, taking off old rail, closing up

end of porch and opening up the center

We put in a paver walk way over to the drive way

to give it a more welcoming entrance

Lots and Lots of work

but so worth it!!!! 

We are really pleased with the way it turned out
